Yesterday was Market Square Day in Portsmouth, so a lot of the roads downtown were closed and there were lots of people around. We wanted to go out to breakfast but because of how busy Portsmouth was, we decided to find a place to go on our way to the distillery tours. Sunny’s in Lee was right on the way, so we decided to try that.

Sunny’s is on 125, so I have driven by it a million times but never actually stopped. It looks nice enough on the outside. The inside looked a bit dated and the booths were well worn. They left a coffee pot on our table which was convenient for refills, but I’m pretty sure that was not intentional.

The food was good, but not anything above and beyond. The omelets were fluffy and the ingredients inside were well cooked and evenly distributed. The toast was thick cut. The french toast used Me and Ollie’s Cinnamon Swirl bread and looked pretty delicious. The hash browns were a bit greasy and the eggs were warm, not hot.

Sunny’s is a good breakfast stop if you are able to look past the atmosphere. We may go here again if we are driving by, but wouldn’t go out of our way.
